THESE PEOPLE ARE THE REASON WE ARE STILL A SHADE ABOVE THE REST
Joseph J. Daniels
As president of WT Shade, Joe has always leaned on a diverse set of personal and professional skills to help move the company forward. His strong interest in engineering began early on while working side-by-side at his father’s electrical business. This is something Joe had done on and off since he was 9 years old and which would eventually lead to him obtaining his electrician’s license. After graduating from college, Joe took over the family business but when workloads would periodically lag, Joe, ever diligent, often looked to other areas to keep his mind occupied. At the call of a college friend, he soon began part-timing as an installer of window treatments. It would prove to be a milestone decision, as it led Joe into the industry he now so adeptly serves. Installation jobs quickly evolved into design jobs, and design jobs frequently presented problem-solving challenges, all of which soon had Joe sourcing raw materials himself and designing and building original solutions. The products he produced steadily expanded in scope and nature and the company that is known today as WT Shade was officially born in 1977. Joe graduated from Fairleigh Dickenson University in New Jersey with a BA in Political Science.
Chief Executive Officer
As Chief Executive Officer for WT Shade, Eddie came to the position by a strategic route, each step introducing a unique skillset that today adds great depth and breadth to his well-rounded experience. Early in his career, while working for UPS, his potential shone through after only 8 short months and he was promoted to operations supervisor where he was directly responsible for the rapid and reliable unloading, sorting, scanning and reloading of upwards of 23,000 packages a day. This daily challenge quickly honed Eddie’s exceptional project management skills and it paid off when a family friend helped usher him into the window treatment industry as an associate project manager for a Manhattan-based window shade installation company. In short order, Eddie was soon directly responsible for the successful management of all aspects of some of the company’s largest multi-million dollar projects throughout NYC. Responsibilities included material selection and ordering, project scheduling, labor management, billing and beyond. By the time Eddie arrived at WT Shade to perform the role of director of sales & business development, he had become a bona fide window treatment expert. Eddie proudly became C.E.O. of Windowcraft, Inc in 2015 where he continues to improve the company every day. Eddie majored in Criminal Justice at Morris County Community College.
Vice President of Sales
As Vice President of Sales for WT Shade, Chuck Raible brings with him 20 years of experience in the window treatment industry. He started his career in 1996 with VIMCO where he managed the customer service department and developed a keen understanding of the need for a good relationship between a customer and their vendors. Later, he would manage 5 commercially focused field offices in the southeast for VIMCO’s Contract Shading Systems division. In 2000, VIMCO was purchased by Lutron Electronics and Chuck put his expertise to work for them by developing the entire training curriculum that would be used for all of Lutron’s various types of customers throughout the country. He would spend 4 years developing his technical expertise and travelling North America teaching dealers about automated shading systems, wiring, installation, and sales. In 2004, Chuck embarked on a sales focused career with Lutron which involved both residential and commercial shade and lighting controls sales throughout the Mid Atlantic and Ohio Valley territories. It is in this role that Chuck honed his skills and his strong desire for teamwork. He joined the tenacious, energetic team at WT Shade in September of 2015 with the responsibility of creating a sales organization and developing a national brand name by working hand in hand with all outside influencers including dealers, sales reps, architects, general contractors, and end users. National Accounts Manager
As National Accounts Manager for WT Shade, Eric developed a diverse experience portfolio that first took shape early on while studying aerospace technology at NASA. Eric took the strengths in building, production and customer relations that he developed there and put them to work as a project manager for Pineapple Homes in Melbourne, Florida, where he led complex onsite construction of custom home and commercial properties, and then later transitioned into interior design. At Design Poole, he leveraged his certificate in AutoCAD to optimize tight spaces for high-end hospitality installations, and his daily interactions in a liaison capacity with design representatives, designers and subcontractors proved invaluable training for his current responsibilities at WT Shade. He then was hired as general manager for Advantage Aluminum in Orlando, Florida, where his areas of focus included the framing and installation of soffit, gutters, windows and doors. Eventually, Eric became a project manager for Mason Contract Products, a well-known contract drapery company. Here he would be introduced to window treatments and residential/commercial interior design. Eric has seen the production and installation of window drapery and window treatments from basically every angle, which makes him quite knowledgeable in the expert management of customer care. Eric graduated from Brevard Community College with a degree in Aerospace Technology.
Product Development Manager
As Product Development Manager, Man probably never expected to be the expert on shading that he is. Born in Vietnam, Man and his family immigrated to NY in the 1980’s and it was here that he discovered an affinity for engineering. While still in High School, Man received his Airframe & Powerplant license, giving him the ability to fix airplanes, but he still wanted to learn more things. He went on to develop his skills at Manhattan College by acquiring a Mechanical Engineering degree and, after graduation, was quickly hired as a design engineer by a local air conditioner manufacturer. Throughout this time, Man learned all about the design and manufacturing process, the in’s and out’s of supply and project management, as well as many things about the commercial construction industry. Seeking new opportunities and wanting to learn more new skills, Man landed a position as project manager for Mechoshade Systems, where he discovered the world of window shading. Here he became engrossed in planning and problem solving the company’s highest profile automated shading projects, from scope, to cost, to programming and wiring. Man had the opportunity to over-see some of the industries largest and most complicated shading installations, but despite all this, felt that he wanted to be in a position to create solutions by anticipating problems instead of finding solutions that already exist, and, as it turns out, we were looking for someone for just that position. An invaluable addition to the team, Man brings many years of in-field problem-solving experience and applies that know-how to every product we manufacture making sure that every new design is better than the last.
Business Development & Marketing Manager
As Business Development Manager and Marketing Manager for WT Shade, Dara brings a world of creative experience to her diverse responsibilities. She began her career in window treatments as a designer for Martin Albert Interiors, a Manhattan-based custom furniture and window treatment design and production firm, where she collaborated with some of New York’s top designers. Dara even designed and produced furnishings and drapery that were featured on several highly celebrated TV and film sets, such as Sex in the City and Ugly Betty. Expanding on this creative base, Dara went on to serve as a technical sales rep for Somfy Systems, the window treatment industry’s largest manufacturer of motors. There she focused on project management and learned a great deal about technical support. She now brings this unique combination of creative skills and technical expertise to WT Shade, where her aesthetic sensibilities are fine-tuned by her knowledge of technology, and vice-versa, to help create not only eye-catching designs for our product literature and media, but also solutions that are highly informative, if she does say so herself. Dara majored in musical theater performance at Emerson College in Boston and minored in theater production, where she focused on set design and directing.
Elmer began his career with Windowcraft and has not stopped giving his all to the company since day one. He started as a regular staff member, where he packaged shipments and assisted where needed throughout the shop floor. It wasn’t very long until Elmer’s potential was recognized, and he was invited to begin training as a shade maker. His years on the production floor were long and formative, as Elmer did everything from fabric and aluminum cutting to assembling the varied components of virtually every type of window shade. After an intense period of self-training during which he analyzed and learned all he could, Elmer gained his current position as production manager for WT Shade. Today, he continues to enjoy the added challenges the position presents on a daily basis, especially when he is able to put his problem-solving skills to work, which are formidable. He welcomes being held to the highest standards of excellence and sees each challenge as an opportunity to prove his professional worth. Besides our founder and president, Elmer continues to be the longest standing employee at WT Shade.
